Genetic Variation in a Crossing Population of Camellia oleifera Based on ddRAD Sequencing and Analysis of Association with Fruit Traits SCIE

Abstract :

Tea oil is an important high-quality edible oil derived from woody plants. Camellia oleifera is the largest and most widely planted oil-producing plant in the Camellia genus in China, and its seeds are the most important source for obtaining tea oil. In current research, improving the yield and quality of tea oil is the main goal of oil tea genetic breeding. The aim of this study was to investigate the degree of genetic variation in an early crossing population of C. oleifera and identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and genes significantly associated with fruit traits, which can provide a basis for marker-assisted selection and gene editing for achieving trait improvement in the future. In this study, we selected a crossing population of approximately 40-year-old C. oleifera with a total of 330 samples. Then, ddRAD sequencing was used for SNP calling and population genetic analysis, and association analysis was performed on fruit traits measured repeatedly for two consecutive years. The research results indicate that over 8 million high-quality SNPs have been identified, but the vast majority of SNPs occur in intergenic regions. The nucleotide polymorphism of this population is at a low level, and Tajima's D values are mostly greater than 0, indicating that the change in this population was not suitable for the model of central evolution. The population structure analysis shows that the population has seven theoretical sources of genetic material and can be divided into seven groups, and the clustering analysis results support the population structure analysis results. Association analysis identified significant SNPs associated with genes related to the seed number of a single fruit and seed kernel oil content. Our findings provide a basis for molecular breeding and future genetic improvement of cultivated oil tea.

Abstract :

Two new species of Ainsliaea (Asteraceae: Pertyoideae), Ainsliaea erectifolia X.X.Su and S.P.Chen and Ainsliaea laxiflora X.X.Su and S.P.Chen, both from Fujian, Southeast China, are described and illustrated here. Morphologically, A. erectifolia is similar to A. simplicissima, but can be distinguished by both surfaces of leaves being glabrous and the capitulum bearing 3 flowers. A. laxiflora is similar to A. polystachya , but differs by its rosette leaves aggregating near the middle part of the stem, the capitulum bearing 3 flowers, the terminal inflorescence rachilla shorter than lateral rachillae, anthers lower than corolla lobes, and style equal to or slightly higher than corolla lobes. Phylogenetic analyses indicated that the two new species were closely related to each other and belong to section Aggregatae. These two species have currently been assessed as Critically Endangered (CR) according to the IUCN guidelines. Furthermore, the complete plastid genomes of these two new species are reported. This study not only introduces two new Ainsliaea species but also provides their plastid genome data, offering valuable genetic resources for understanding the evolutionary history of the genus Ainsliaea.

福建柏地理分布及随气候变化的分布格局模拟

Abstract :

气候变化对物种的地理分布格局有重要驱动作用,全球气候变化和人类活动的干扰已经严重威胁到福建柏(Chamaecyparis hodginsii)的生存环境,野生资源日渐稀少,本研究预测了末次间冰期以来福建柏地理分布格局变迁历史,探讨环境因子对其潜在分布的影响机制,为福建柏的资源保护和可持续经营提供科学依据。基于福建柏的160个现代分布点信息和10个环境因子,利用MaxEnt模型并结合ArcGIS软件,预测福建柏在过去、现代和未来不同气候情景下的潜在适生区,并利用贡献率和置换重要值分析环境因子对其地理分布的影响机制。结果显示:(1)福建柏当代高度适生分布区主要位于浙江南部、福建、湘赣交界处、湘粤接壤处以及湘桂交界处等;(2)未来4种气候变化情景下,福建柏总适宜分布区较当代分布范围呈收缩趋势,但其高度适生区分布面积除2090s-SSP126外,较当前时期均表现出扩增趋势;(3)平均昼夜温差(bio2)、最干月降水量(bio14)、最暖季度降水量(bio18)、海拔(elev)、最冷月最低气温(bio6)是制约福建柏地理分布变迁的关键因子。

为探究脊线上发育的中山针阔叶林的群落学特征。采用典型样地法对武夷山国家公园进行植被调查,通过统计林下物种组成、多度、物种多样性和生物量,分析脊线物种多样性随面积的变化趋势与两侧坡向生物量的变化趋势得到脊线森林群落的部分特征。结果标明,脊线样地内共有维管植物24科43属67种,其中裸子植物2科2属2种,被子植物21科40属64种,共2 889株。样地最小调查面积为1 500 m

福建菊科植物区系特征和入侵现状

Abstract :

通过野外调查、标本整理及文献分析,系统研究了福建省菊科植物的区系组成、生活型谱、分布区类型及入侵现状。结果显示:福建省菊科植物共122属282种(占中国50.83%),含中国特有种61种(21.63%),属内以单种属(55.74%)为主;生活型以地生草本为主(92.55%),符合r/K选择策略。地理成分以世界(21.31%)、东亚(20.49%)及中国特有(9.02%)成分为主;属等级上与浙江省相似性最高(S=0.8157),种等级上与广东省相似性最高(S=0.7363);入侵种56种(19.86%),以热带美洲及北美起源为主,高入侵性等级1物种占26.79%(如微甘菊)。研究结果可为福建省菊科资源保护、入侵防控及生态管理提供依据。

Abstract :

描述了福建省发现的卫矛科(Celastraceae)卫矛属(Euonymus)一新种:梅花山卫矛(E. meihuashanensis),该新种与疏花卫矛(E. laxiflorus)和蒙自卫矛(E. mengtseanus)较为相近,但可以通过该新种为藤本状灌木,树皮粗糙,常呈薄片状剥落,叶厚革质,边缘具钝锯齿,齿端具黑色腺点,侧脉明显,花序1~3朵,花梗较粗,蒴果扁球形进行区分。形态特征比较及分子系统发育分析均支持该新种的成立。

Comparative Analysis of Habitat Expansion Mechanisms for Four Invasive Amaranthaceae Plants Under Current and Future Climates Using MaxEnt SCIE

As China's first systematic assessment of high-risk Amaranthaceae invaders, this study addresses a critical knowledge gap identified in the National Invasive Species Inventory, in which four invasive Amaranthaceae species (Dysphania ambrosioides, Celosia argentea, Amaranthus palmeri, and Amaranthus spinosus) are prioritized due to CNY 2.6 billion annual ecosystem damages in China. By coupling multi-species comparative analysis with a parameter-optimized Maximum Entropy (MaxEnt) model integrating climate, soil, and topographical variables in China under Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP) 126/245/585 scenarios, we reveal divergent expansion mechanisms (e.g., 247 km faster northward shift in A. palmeri than D. ambrosioides) that redefine invasion corridors in the North China Plain. Under current conditions, the suitable habitats of these species span from 92 degrees E to 129 degrees E and 18 degrees N to 49 degrees N, with high-risk zones concentrated in central and southern China, including the Yunnan-Guizhou-Sichuan region and the North China Plain. Temperature variables (Bio: Bioclimatic Variables; Bio6, Bio11) were the primary contributors based on permutation importance (e.g., Bio11 explained 56.4% for C. argentea), while altitude (e.g., 27.3% for A. palmeri) and UV-B (e.g., 16.2% for A. palmeri) exerted lower influence. Model validation confirmed high accuracy (mean area under the curve (AUC) > 0.86 and true skill statistic (TSS) > 0.6). By the 2090s, all species showed net habitat expansion overall, although D. ambrosioides exhibited net total contractions during mid-century under the SSP126/245 scenarios, C. argentea experienced reduced total suitability during the 2050s-2070s despite high-suitability growth, and A. palmeri and A. spinosus expanded significantly in both total and highly suitable habitat. All species shifted their distribution centroids northward, aligning with warming trends. Overall, these findings highlight the critical role of temperature in driving range dynamics and underscore the need for latitude-specific monitoring strategies to mitigate invasion risks, providing a scientific basis for adaptive management under global climate change.

Abstract :

The MADS-box transcription factor gene family is essential for the differentiation and development of floral organs. Genome-wide and transcriptome data from Phoebe bournei provide the foundation for studying its floral development. In this study, phylogenetic relationships, protein characteristics, conserved domains, gene structures, and cis-acting elements in promoter regions of P. bournei MADS-box genes were systematically analyzed through bioinformatics methodologies. A total of 69 PbMADS genes were identified and classified into 15 subfamilies based on their phylogenetic relationships. The potential functions of these genes were inferred based on transcriptomic data and GO classification. In addition, we selected genes from the ABCDE model to analyze protein interactions and performed RT-qPCR to analyze their expression in each floral organ whorl (outer tepals, inner tepals, stamens, and carpel). Based on these analyses, we rationally constructed a model for the floral organ development in P. bournei. This study, thus, provides a theoretical reference for germplasm innovation in P. bournei and offers insights into the floral development in other Lauraceae species.
