Genome-Wide Identification of GATA Transcription Factors in Acorus and Expression Patterns Under Abiotic Stress SCIE

Abstract :

The GATA transcription factors are a class of DNA-binding proteins that control the expression of target genes by binding to the promoter regions of DNA, thereby affecting the growth and development of plants. In recent years, GATA genes have been discovered and functionally characterized in many plant species. However, there is limited annotation information for GATA genes in the genus Acorus. This study identified 38 and 20 GATA genes in Acorus calamus and A. gramineus, respectively. Based on a phylogenetic tree, they were classified into four subfamilies (I, II, III, and IV). At the same time, an analysis of the GATA domain and motifs revealed that the domains are relatively conserved across all subfamilies. A multiple sequence alignment showed that almost all GATA proteins are highly conserved at the LCNACG site. An analysis of cis-elements, collinearity, and protein-protein interaction networks provided insights into the response mechanisms under biotic stress. Additionally, we found significant changes in the expression of GATA in A. gramineus under drought and salt stress. These results provide useful information for future functional analyses of GATA genes and contribute to a better understanding of the stress response mechanisms and molecular breeding directions in the Acorus species.

Abstract :

The MADS-box transcription factor gene family is essential for the differentiation and development of floral organs. Genome-wide and transcriptome data from Phoebe bournei provide the foundation for studying its floral development. In this study, phylogenetic relationships, protein characteristics, conserved domains, gene structures, and cis-acting elements in promoter regions of P. bournei MADS-box genes were systematically analyzed through bioinformatics methodologies. A total of 69 PbMADS genes were identified and classified into 15 subfamilies based on their phylogenetic relationships. The potential functions of these genes were inferred based on transcriptomic data and GO classification. In addition, we selected genes from the ABCDE model to analyze protein interactions and performed RT-qPCR to analyze their expression in each floral organ whorl (outer tepals, inner tepals, stamens, and carpel). Based on these analyses, we rationally constructed a model for the floral organ development in P. bournei. This study, thus, provides a theoretical reference for germplasm innovation in P. bournei and offers insights into the floral development in other Lauraceae species.

Abstract :

Tea oil is an important high-quality edible oil derived from woody plants. Camellia oleifera is the largest and most widely planted oil-producing plant in the Camellia genus in China, and its seeds are the most important source for obtaining tea oil. In current research, improving the yield and quality of tea oil is the main goal of oil tea genetic breeding. The aim of this study was to investigate the degree of genetic variation in an early crossing population of C. oleifera and identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and genes significantly associated with fruit traits, which can provide a basis for marker-assisted selection and gene editing for achieving trait improvement in the future. In this study, we selected a crossing population of approximately 40-year-old C. oleifera with a total of 330 samples. Then, ddRAD sequencing was used for SNP calling and population genetic analysis, and association analysis was performed on fruit traits measured repeatedly for two consecutive years. The research results indicate that over 8 million high-quality SNPs have been identified, but the vast majority of SNPs occur in intergenic regions. The nucleotide polymorphism of this population is at a low level, and Tajima's D values are mostly greater than 0, indicating that the change in this population was not suitable for the model of central evolution. The population structure analysis shows that the population has seven theoretical sources of genetic material and can be divided into seven groups, and the clustering analysis results support the population structure analysis results. Association analysis identified significant SNPs associated with genes related to the seed number of a single fruit and seed kernel oil content. Our findings provide a basis for molecular breeding and future genetic improvement of cultivated oil tea.

Abstract :

Over the past decades, the expansion of natural secondary forests has played a crucial role in offsetting the loss of primary forests and combating climate change. Despite this, there is a gap in our understanding of how tree species' growth and mortality patterns vary with elevation in these secondary forests. In this study, we analyzed data from two censuses (spanning a five-year interval) conducted in both evergreen broadleaved forests (EBF) and temperate coniferous forests (TCF), which have been recovering for half a century, across elevation gradients in a subtropical mountain region, Mount Wuyi, China. The results indicated that the relative growth rate (RGR) of EBF (0.028 +/- 0.001 cmcm-1a-1) and the mortality rate (MR) (20.03% +/- 1.70%) were 27.3% and 16.4% higher, respectively, than those of TCF. Interestingly, the trade-off between RGR and MR in EBF weakened as elevation increased, a trend not observed in TCF. Conversely, TCF consistently showed a stronger trade-off between RGR and MR compared to EBF. Generalized linear mixed models revealed that elevation influences RGR both directly and indirectly through its interactions with slope, crown competition index (CCI), and tree canopy height (CH). However, tree mortality did not show a significant correlation with elevation. Additionally, DBH significantly influenced both tree growth and mortality, whereas and CH and CCI had opposite effects on tree growth between EBF and TCF. Our study underscores the importance of elevation in shaping the population dynamics and the biomass carbon sink balance of mountain forests. These insights enhance our understanding of tree species' life strategies, enabling more accurate predictions of forest dynamics and their response to environmental changes.

Abstract :

Two new species of Ainsliaea (Asteraceae: Pertyoideae), Ainsliaea erectifolia X.X.Su and S.P.Chen and Ainsliaea laxiflora X.X.Su and S.P.Chen, both from Fujian, Southeast China, are described and illustrated here. Morphologically, A. erectifolia is similar to A. simplicissima, but can be distinguished by both surfaces of leaves being glabrous and the capitulum bearing 3 flowers. A. laxiflora is similar to A. polystachya , but differs by its rosette leaves aggregating near the middle part of the stem, the capitulum bearing 3 flowers, the terminal inflorescence rachilla shorter than lateral rachillae, anthers lower than corolla lobes, and style equal to or slightly higher than corolla lobes. Phylogenetic analyses indicated that the two new species were closely related to each other and belong to section Aggregatae. These two species have currently been assessed as Critically Endangered (CR) according to the IUCN guidelines. Furthermore, the complete plastid genomes of these two new species are reported. This study not only introduces two new Ainsliaea species but also provides their plastid genome data, offering valuable genetic resources for understanding the evolutionary history of the genus Ainsliaea.

福建柏地理分布及随气候变化的分布格局模拟

Abstract :

气候变化对物种的地理分布格局有重要驱动作用,全球气候变化和人类活动的干扰已经严重威胁到福建柏(Chamaecyparis hodginsii)的生存环境,野生资源日渐稀少,本研究预测了末次间冰期以来福建柏地理分布格局变迁历史,探讨环境因子对其潜在分布的影响机制,为福建柏的资源保护和可持续经营提供科学依据。基于福建柏的160个现代分布点信息和10个环境因子,利用MaxEnt模型并结合ArcGIS软件,预测福建柏在过去、现代和未来不同气候情景下的潜在适生区,并利用贡献率和置换重要值分析环境因子对其地理分布的影响机制。结果显示:(1)福建柏当代高度适生分布区主要位于浙江南部、福建、湘赣交界处、湘粤接壤处以及湘桂交界处等;(2)未来4种气候变化情景下,福建柏总适宜分布区较当代分布范围呈收缩趋势,但其高度适生区分布面积除2090s-SSP126外,较当前时期均表现出扩增趋势;(3)平均昼夜温差(bio2)、最干月降水量(bio14)、最暖季度降水量(bio18)、海拔(elev)、最冷月最低气温(bio6)是制约福建柏地理分布变迁的关键因子。

Abstract :

[目的]报道了福建省杜鹃花属一新记录种,为进一步丰富福建野生杜鹃花植物资源和开发利用提供基础信息。[方法]通过植物体形态特征的观察和与相近种的比较,进行物种鉴定。[结果]该种嫩枝、叶背及子房被平贴糙伏毛,花冠粉红色至粉白色、漏斗状钟形、喉部具深紫色斑点,雄蕊6~10枚,区别于福建省内已知近缘种,为伏毛杜鹃(Rhododendron strigosum R.L.Liu)。标本保存于福建生物工程职业技术学院博物馆。[结论]伏毛杜鹃是福建省杜鹃花科(Ericaceae)新记录种,具有一定的开发利用价值。

在福建省本土野生植物调查过程中,发现3种被子植物,通过标本采集、鉴定以及查阅相关文献,分别为单穗水蜈蚣(Kyllinganemoralis)、异叶石龙尾(Limnophilaheterophylla)、厚叶悬钩子(Rubuscrassifolius),均为福建省新记录种。凭证标本现存于福建农林大学标本馆(FJFC)。

福建省野生唇形科植物资源现状及其药用价值

【目的】明晰福建省野生唇形科植物资源现状,为其保护与利用提供依据。【方法】多次深入福建省各市县进行野外调查,结合文献和网络标本数据库,对福建省唇形科植物的分布物种、分布地、药用价值等相关信息进行整理与分析。【结果】福建省共分布野生唇形科植物47属179种,以黄芩属(Scutellaria)、紫珠属(Callicarpa)、鼠尾草属(Salvia)、假糙苏属(Paraphlomis)、大青属(Clerodendrum)为主要分布属,5属共计77种,占福建省野生唇形科植物总数的43.02%。福建省野生唇形科植物中,可药用植物共计39属100种;其药用部位多样,全草、根、叶、茎、花、果实均可入药,以全草入药的植物最多(36属82种);有11种可药食两用。闽北山区及闽东南沿海地区的物种丰富度较高,闽东、闽东北内陆山区的物种丰富度较低。【结论】福建省野生唇形科植物资源丰富,其属、种的多样性非常高,药用价值高,具有较大的开发潜力;但其在福建省的分布不均,以水热条件良好的地方分布更为丰富。

为探究脊线上发育的中山针阔叶林的群落学特征。采用典型样地法对武夷山国家公园进行植被调查,通过统计林下物种组成、多度、物种多样性和生物量,分析脊线物种多样性随面积的变化趋势与两侧坡向生物量的变化趋势得到脊线森林群落的部分特征。结果标明,脊线样地内共有维管植物24科43属67种,其中裸子植物2科2属2种,被子植物21科40属64种,共2 889株。样地最小调查面积为1 500 m
