Abstract :
Tremella fuciformis polysaccharides have diverse bioactivities and beneficial physicochemical properties, enabling broad use in pharmaceuticals and food. This study analyzed intracellular and extracellular polysaccharides (IPs and EPs) from three T. fuciformis spores, assessing their monosaccharide composition and in vitro antioxidant and hypoglycemic effects. Results showed that TWW01-AX and TWW02-TMS had significantly higher biomass and polysaccharide yields than TYH-SD1. IPs were predominantly composed of Glc, exceeding 60 mol%, whereas EPs were primarily composed of Man, accounting for over 64 mol%. Monosaccharide percentages served as key discriminators between IPs and EPs. EPs exhibited stronger DPPH, hydroxyl radical scavenging, CUPRAC, as well as alpha-glucosidase and alpha-amylase inhibition, while IPs showed superior ABTS radical scavenging activities and FRAP. Ridge regression showed key monosaccharide percentage variations notably influence bioactivities. This study provided a theoretical basis for the functional evaluation of high-quality T. fuciformis polysaccharides and the efficient screening of superior strains.

Abstract :
Cadmium (Cd) causes significant disruption to plant growth and poses a threat to human health, necessitating urgent and effective measures to mitigate its absorption and translocation in rice. This study employed a co-treatment of carbon dots (PBCDs) with Cd. The potential mechanisms underlying the alleviation of Cd toxicity in rice by PBCDs were investigated by observing changes in photosynthesis, the antioxidant system, and the content of other divalent metals in rice. The results showed that under Cd stress, PBCDs mitigated the interference of Cd in photosynthesis. Notably, treatments with 100 and 250 mg L-1 PBCDs significantly increased the rice fresh weight by 32.45% and 31.54%, and reduced Cd concentrations in rice leaves by 53.82% and 45.81%, respectively. Moreover, PBCDs effectively reduced the shoot-to-leaf translocation factor (TF) of Cd by up to 45.76%, likely due to enhanced Zn concentrations in shoots. Furthermore, PBCDs enhanced the activity of antioxidant enzymes (SOD, POD, CAT) in rice, resulting in decreased levels of MDA induced by Cd stress. In conclusion, PBCDs enhanced rice antioxidant enzyme activity, photosynthetic efficiency, and biomass while mitigating cellular damage and reducing Cd concentrations in various tissues. These findings provide theoretical guidance and data support for the study of novel nanomaterials to promote crop growth under Cd stress conditions and alleviate Cd accumulation in plants.

Abstract :
Previous studies have found that the fermentation broth of gut-associated bacteria of the Spodoptera litura can induce resistance in tomatoes to the Spodoptera litura larva. In this paper, column chromatography and modern spectrometry techniques were utilised to isolate and identify the fermentation broth of gut-associated bacteria of Spodoptera litura, and five compounds were obtained, which were N-acetyltyramine (1), p-hydroxybenzeneacetic acid methyl ester (2), p-hydroxybenzenepropionic acid (3), 3-indolylcarboxaldehyde (4), and p-hydroxybenzeneethanol (5). These compounds were evaluated for their ability to induce insect resistance in tomato, revealing that all five increased the resistance of tomato to the Spodoptera litura to varying degrees. The strongest induced resistance was observed in tomatoes treated with compound 1 at 0.1 mu g/mL, showing a 55.73% body weight inhibition against the Spodoptera litura. Compound 4, at 1 mu g/mL, induced a 42.39% inhibition of larval weight. Compound 5 at 0.1 mu g/mL induced a 42.39% inhibition of growth in tomato against Spodoptera litura as well. Compounds 2 and 3 at 1 mu g/mL resulted in 30.20% and 39.66% inhibition of the weight growth of tomato against Spodoptera litura, respectively. Among them, the induction of compound 2 at 0.1 mu g/mL even significantly promoted the feeding on tomato leaves by the Spodoptera litura.

Abstract :
Pig bedding biochar (PBBC) and Cd-enriched Perilla frutescens were used for joint remediation of Cd-contaminated soil. Cd-contaminated soil was treated with different concentration of PBBC. The physiological and biochemical indicators of P. frutescens was evaluated under different Cd stress, including biomass, antioxidant system. Meanwhile Cd bioavailability, enzyme activity and nutrient bioavailability of the soil were monitored. Results revealed that PBBC at 1 % and 5 % levels led to decreased diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid-extractable Cd (DTPA-Cd) content in soil by 19.09 %-20.05 % and 30.10 %-47.08 %, respectively. Moreover, PBBC promoted the transformation of exchangeable Cd (EXC-Cd) into a more stable form, enhanced soil enzymes (peroxidase, acid phosphatase, urease, and sucrase) activities, and alleviated P. frutescens 's oxidative stress. PBBC increased its biomass, consequently enhancing Cd accumulation in the plant's, thereby improving Phytoextraction rate (PER). 1 % PBBC showed the best effect, with a total biomass increased 21.42 %-26.94 %, PER was enhanced by 39.83 %-54.82 %. This study justifies that the combining PBBC with P. frutescens enhances Cd removal from soil, making the PBBC-P. frutescens a promising choice for treating Cd-polluted soil. Abstract :
The electrooxidation of dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA) suffers from significant signal overlapping due to their similar oxidative potentials. In this study, a composite material consisting of carbon film coating on the surface of anatase TiO2 (TiO2@C) is proposed for the simultaneous detection of DA and UA. The synergistic effect of TiO2@C, which includes enhanced charge transfer efficiency and improved conductivity, significantly promotes the electrooxidation process. TiO2@C is prepared via a simple calcination approach by annealing MIL-125 at 750 degrees C under a nitrogen atmosphere. Systematic material characterization, including x-ray diffraction, highresolution transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, etc., is performed to confirm the structural properties and surface composition of TiO2@C. TiO2@C is then used to modify a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) via drop-coating. A series of electrochemical measurements are conducted for the detection of DA and UA. After optimizing the measurement procedure, simultaneous detection of DA and UA is achieved, with linear ranges of 0.2 to 200 mu M for DA and 0.2 to 40 mu M for UA, and detection limits of 0.11 mu M for DA and 0.09 mu M for UA (D = 3 sigma/k). Further evaluations, including anti-interference testing, stability, and reusability, provide a comprehensive understanding of TiO2@C's performance. Finally, the TiO2@C/GCE is applied to determine DA and UA in human urine samples, yielding recoveries between 100.19-101.87 % for DA, and 93.09 %-105.30 % for UA. This study highlights the synergistic effect of TiO2@C in electrode modification, demonstrating its potential for the sensitive and selective electrochemical detection of DA and UA.

Abstract :
Annual loss of rice caused by insect pests accounts for about 30% of total production, and the use of traditional pesticides has brought about environmental pollution, food safety, and other problems. The use of secondary metabolites of rice to control pests has become a research hotspot, but little is known about the mechanism of rice self-resistance. Rice is a typical silicon accumulating crop. Previous study showed that silicon can significantly enhance the resistance of rice to Chilo suppressalis, but anti-insect active substances in silicon-treated rice were unknown. In current study, metabolomics analysis has been performed on two groups of rice (T1, treated with silicon and insect; T3, treated with only insect). A total of 151 significantly different metabolites were obtained, compared with T3 group, 23 metabolites in T1 were significantly up-regulated and 128 metabolites were significantly down-regulated. Different metabolites were mainly enriched to tryptophan metabolism, lipoic acid metabolism, linoleic acid metabolism, isoflavone biosynthesis, and indole alkaloid biosynthesis. The different metabolites (p < 0.1) enriched to lipoic acid metabolism and fatty acid biosynthesis were all significantly up-regulated. Ten significantly up-regulated different metabolites were selected from T1. These were 3-hydroxy-palmitic acid methyl ester (1), octanoic acid (2), 3-hydroxyoctadecanoic acid (3), 12-hydroxyoctadecanoic acid (4), 2-linoleoylglycerol (5), methyleugenol (6), alpha-asarone (7), 2,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde (8), acitretin (9), and menatetrenone (10), and their anti-insect activity was evaluated. Compounds 1-5 and 7-10 could significantly inhibit the growth of Chilo suppressalis. Compounds 2 and 3 inhibited growth of the insect by 35.5 and 64.5%, respectively. Compound 2 belongs to lipoic acid metabolism and fatty acid biosynthesis. We speculate that silicon positively regulated the metabolic pathway of lipoic acid and fatty acid to enhance the resistance of rice to insects.

Abstract :
The use of secondary metabolites of rice to control pests has become a research hotspot, but little is known about the mechanism of rice self-resistance. In this study, metabolomics analysis was performed on two groups of rice (T1, with insect pests; T2, without pests), indicating that fatty acids, alkaloids, and phenolic acids were significantly up-regulated in T1. The up-regulated metabolites (p-value < 0.1) were enriched in linoleic acid metabolism, terpene, piperidine, and pyridine alkaloid biosynthesis, alpha-linolenic acid metabolism, and tryptophan metabolism. Six significantly up-regulated differential metabolites in T1 were screened out: N-trans-feruloyl-3-methoxytyramine (1), N-trans-feruloyltyramine (2), N-trans-p-coumaroyltyramine (3), N-cis-feruloyltyramine (4), N-phenylacetyl-L-glutamine (5), and benzamide (6). The insect growth inhibitory activities of these six different metabolites were determined, and the results show that compound 1 had the highest activity, which significantly inhibited the growth of Chilo suppressalis by 59.63%. Compounds 2-4 also showed a good inhibitory effect on the growth of Chilo suppressalis, while the other compounds had no significant effect. RNA-seq analyses showed that larval exposure to compound 1 up-regulated the genes that were significantly enriched in ribosome biogenesis in eukaryotes, the cell cycle, ribosomes, and other pathways. The down-regulated genes were significantly enriched in metabolic pathways, oxidative phosphorylation, the citrate cycle (TCA cycle), and other pathways. Eighteen up-regulated genes and fifteen down-regulated genes from the above significantly enriched pathways were screened out and verified by real-time quantitative PCR. The activities of detoxification enzymes (glutathione S-transferase (GST); UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT); and carboxylesterase (CarE)) under larval exposure to compound 1 were measured, which indicated that the activity of GST was significantly inhibited by compound 1, while the activities of the UGT and CarE enzymes did not significantly change. As determined by UPLC-MS, the contents of compound 1 in the T1 and T2 groups were 8.55 ng/g and 0.53 ng/g, respectively, which indicated that pest insects significantly induced the synthesis of compound 1. Compound 1 may enhance rice insect resistance by inhibiting the detoxification enzyme activity and metabolism of Chilo suppressalis, as well as promoting cell proliferation to affect its normal growth and development process. The chemical-ecological mechanism of the insect resistance of rice is preliminarily clarified in this paper.

Abstract :
Graphenic materials of high quality are in high-demand. In this study, a method is proposed for the synthesis of graphenic materials by the pyrolysis of cellulose materials. Cellulose materials were oxidized and doped with magnesium prior to pyrolysis, which improved the graphitization efficiency significantly. The obtained graphenic materials, exhibiting a well-developed porous structure, high specific surface area, were employed for the fabrication of a composite electrode. The composite electrode was employed for the simultaneously detection of adenine (AE) and guanine (GA) with excellent performance in the electrocatalytic oxidation response. Various electrochemical tests were carried out to optimized the detection of AE and GA. Under the optimized conditions, the simultaneous quantification of GA and AE is achieved from 1 - 100 mu M with detection limits from 0.4 - 0.6 mu M. This study offers a promising alternative for the synthesis of graphenic materials of high quality.
