Construction of an Ecological Security Pattern Based on the PLUS and MSPA Models: A Case Study of the Fuzhou Metropolitan Area SCIE SSCI

Abstract :

Amidst the swift progression of urban expansion, transformations in land utilization have become increasingly pronounced, posing significant threats to ecosystem coherence and continuity. Establishing a well-designed ecological security pattern (ESP) framework proves essential for preserving environmental equilibrium and enhancing species diversity. This investigation centers on the Fuzhou urban agglomeration as its primary study zone, employing the patch-oriented land utilization simulation (PLUS) approach to forecast 2030 land cover modifications under environmentally conscious conditions. By integrating morphological spatial configuration assessment (MSPA) with habitat linkage evaluation, critical ecological hubs were pinpointed. Subsequent application of electrical circuit principles alongside the minimal cumulative resistance (MCR) methodology enabled the identification of vital ecological pathways and junctions, culminating in the development of a comprehensive territorial ESP framework. Key findings reveal the subsequent outcomes: (1) the main land use type in the Fuzhou metropolitan area is woodland, which accounts for over 80% of its area, and under the ecological priority scenario for 2030, woodland fragmentation was significantly improved; (2) ecological sources are mainly distributed in the northwest, northeast, and central regions, with their total area proportion increasing to 40.49% by 2030; (3) we constructed 35 ecological corridors and 42 ecological nodes, including 14 key ecological pinch points, 9 potential ecological pinch points, and 4 ecological barrier points; and (4) the final ESP formed the pattern of "three cores, three areas, multiple corridors, and multiple sources," providing strong support for ecological protection and regional sustainable development in the Fuzhou metropolitan area. In this research, we explore the coupled methods of land use simulation and ecological network construction, offering insights for optimizing ESPs in other rapidly urbanizing areas.

本发明公开了一种基于最小道路阻抗模型的低碳道路选线方法,包括:获取研究区的高程栅格数据图层;获取中国土地碳汇栅格数据图层,通过裁剪得出研究区碳汇栅格数据图层;将所述高程栅格数据图层进行标准化,得到地表高程阻力面;将所述研究区碳汇栅格数据图层进行标准化,得到土地碳汇阻力面;将所述地表高程阻力面对应的阻力值与土地碳汇阻力面对应的阻力值进行加权叠加,得到研究区的成本栅格数据;在研究区的公路交通地图上确定规划路线的起点与终点;根据成本栅格数据、起点的坐标信息与终点的坐标信息对起点与终点之间的成本距离和成本路径进行分析,得到起点与终点之间的最低成本路径。本发明为解决人工选线方法存在的问题提供科学依据。

Identification of forest priority conservation and restoration areas for different SSPs-RCPs scenarios SCIE

Abstract :

The conservation and restoration of forests are a crucial component of climate mitigation strategies in many countries. However, the scientific selection of priority areas for forest conservation and restoration remains a challenge. Based on the landscape indices, the forest landscape structural connectivity index was constructed based on principal component analysis; the forest landscape functional connectivity index was constructed based on the minimum cumulative resistance model. Geodetector was employed to identify the driving forces of forest landscape structural and functional connectivity in the Fujian Delta region. The patch-generating land use simulation model was then used to simulate land use changes under different shared socioeconomic pathways (SSPs) and representative concentration pathways (RCPs) scenarios from 2030 to 2050. The optimal scenario of forest development was then selected based on the forest landscape structural and functional connectivity. Finally, graph theory was used to identify priority forest conservation and restoration areas under optimal scenarios. The results indicate the following: (1) elevation (q = 0.34, P < 0.01) and nighttime light (q = 0.33, P <0.01) are the primary drivers of structural connectivity in forested landscapes, while nighttime light (q = 0.38, P < 0.01) and gross domestic product (q = 0.28, P < 0.01) are the primary drivers of functional connectivity in forested landscapes. The joint effect of elevation and nighttime lighting (q = 0.44, P < 0.01) enhances the explanatory power of structural connectivity in forested landscapes. The joint effect of nighttime lighting and gross domestic product (q = 0.46, P < 0.01) enhances the explanatory power of functional connectivity in forested landscapes. (2) Overall, between 2020 and 2050, forest landscape structural and functional connectivity tends to increase in the SSP1-2.6 scenario and decrease in the SSP2-4.5, SSP3-7.0, and SSP5-8.5 scenarios. Based on the structural and functional connectivity of the forest landscape, the optimal scenario for future development was identified as SSP1-RCP2.6. (3) The areas of forests prioritized for conservation in 2030, 2040, and 2050 are 12,470.18 km(2), 12,470.18 km(2), and 12,227.67 km(2), respectively. The areas of forests prioritized for restoration are 51.80 km(2), 103.14 km(2), and 390.86 km(2), respectively. This study identified priority forest conservation and restoration areas under SSPs-RCPs scenarios using graph theory, offering valuable insights into biodiversity conservation and the identification of locations for forest conservation and restoration planning.

Sprawling roads enhanced tropical forest loss during the period 2001-2020 SCIE

Sprawling road networks cutting through forested areas continue to be a potent catalyst of deforestation in tropical regions. Yet, pantropical assessments limited by the lack of high-resolution global maps of tropical forest loss induced by road networks. Here, we harnessed the road dataset from the Global Roads Inventory Project and the forest loss dataset from Global Forest Change, to produce global tropical high-resolution maps of road impact index spanning 2001 to 2020. We find that the forest area within a 1-km distance from roads accounts for about one-sixth, but its proportion of forest loss is nearly one-third, the road impact index is 2.45 times higher than those beyond the zone. The road impact index of all countries shows a decreasing trend with the distance from roads and increasing from 2001 to 2020. Our findings emphasize the urgent need for globalized efforts to protect the intact forests and rehabilitate degraded forests along roadside.

Spatiotemporal Changes in Ecological Quality and Its Response to Forest Landscape Connectivity-A Study from the Perspective of Landscape Structural and Functional Connectivity SCIE

Abstract :

Understanding the response of ecological quality (EQ) to forest landscape connectivity is essential to global biodiversity conservation and national ecological security. However, quantitatively measuring the properties and intensities within these relationships from a spatial heterogeneity perspective remains challenging. This study takes the Fujian Delta region as its case study. The Google Earth Engine platform was employed to compute the remote sensing ecological index (RSEI), the landscape metrics were applied to represent the structural connectivity of the forest landscape, and the minimum cumulative resistance model was adopted to measure the cost distance index representing the functional connectivity of the forest landscape. Then, the spatial correlation and heterogeneity between the EQ and forest landscape connectivity were analyzed based on spatial autocorrelation and geographical weighted regression at three scales (3, 4, and 5 km). The results showed the following: (1) from 2000 to 2020, the overall EQ increased, improving in 37.5% of the region and deteriorating in 13.8% of the region; (2) the forest landscape structural and functional connectivity showed a small decreasing trend from 2000 to 2020, decreasing by 1.3% and 0.9%, respectively; (3) eight forest landscape structural and functional connectivity change modes were detected under the conditions of an improving or degrading EQ based on the change in RSEI and forest landscape structural and functional connectivity; (4) the geographical weighted regression results showed that compared with the forest landscape structural connectivity index, the cost distance index had the highest explanatory power to RSEI in different scales. The effect of forest landscape functional connectivity on EQ is greater than that of structural connectivity. It provides a scientific reference for ecological environmental monitoring and the ecological conservation decision-making of managers.

道路的扩张导致生态网络破碎化加剧及其景观连接度受阻,科学分析不同等级道路对景观连接度及生态网络的影响对指导道路规划和生态保护具有重要意义.本研究以福州市为研究区域,基于2020年道路网络、土地覆盖类型、数字高程模型等数据,运用形态学空间格局分析和电路理论在不同物种扩散距离(1、3、5、10 km)范围内进行生态网络构建,并在景观-斑块-廊道尺度分析不同等级道路(高速公路、城市快速路、一级公路、二级公路)对景观连接度的影响.结果表明:在景观尺度,整体景观连接度与物种扩散距离呈显著正相关,其中,高速公路、城市快速路、一级公路、二级公路均在10 km物种扩散距离范围内导致整体景观连接度的下降率最低,分别为15.6%、5.3%、1.5%、5.2%;在斑块尺度,在不同等级道路的比较中,高速公路在1、5 km物种扩散距离范围内导致斑块连接度的下降率最大,一级公路在3、10 km物种扩散距离范围内导致斑块连接度的下降率最大;在廊道尺度,城市快速路在5 km物种扩散距离范围导致整体最低成本路径的成本加权距离、整体最低成本路径的成本加权距离与其长度之比、整体有效阻力和廊道总长度的上升率最高,分别为43.4%、33.2%、57.3%、7.3%.随着物种扩散距离的增加,重要性高的斑块从北部、中部、西北部地区缩减至北部地区,导致物种的生存空间减少,而关键廊道从西北部和南部地区逐渐向中部地区延伸.研究结果可从整体角度指导福州市生态网络的构建与优化,为土地资源利用有限背景下的生物多样性保护、生态修复和道路网络规划提供科学依据.

The Impact of Urban Forest Landscape on Thermal Environment Based on Deep Learning: A Case of Three Main Cities in Southeastern China SCIE

Accelerated urbanization has exacerbated the urban heat island phenomenon, and urban forests have been recognized as an effective strategy for modulating thermal environments. Nevertheless, there remains a dearth of systematic investigations into the nonlinear associations between the detailed spatial configurations of urban forests and thermal conditions. We proposed a deep learning-based approach to extract forest data, utilizing multisource high-resolution remote sensing data with relative radiometric correction. Subsequently, we employed deep neural networks (DNNs) to quantify the linkages between urban forest landscape patterns and land surface temperature (LST) in summer and winter across Fuzhou, Xiamen, and Zhangzhou in Fujian Province, China. Our findings indicate the following: (1) Our extraction approach outperforms DeepLabv3+, FCN_8S, and SegNet in terms of extraction precision and adaptability, achieving an overall accuracy (OA) of 87.57%; furthermore, the implementation of relative radiometric correction enhances both the extraction precision and model generalizability, improving OA by 0.05%. (2) Geographic and seasonal differences influence the urban forests' cooling effects, with more pronounced cooling in summer, particularly in Zhangzhou. (3) The significance of forest landscape composition and configuration in affecting the thermal environment varies seasonally; landscape configuration plays a more pivotal role in modulating surface temperatures across the three cities, with a more critical role in winter than in summer. (4) Seasonal and city-specific variations in forest spatial patterns influence LST. Adopting the appropriate forest structures tailored to specific seasons, cities, and scales can optimize cooling effects. These results offer quantitative insights into urban heat island dynamics and carry significant implications for urban planning strategies.

Abstract :

为了分析2000—2020年福建省植被恢复力和对气候变化的抵抗力的变化趋势,从多尺度研究植被恢复力的驱动因素及其响应机制。对MOD13Q1产品的增强型植被指数和气候指数建立多元线性回归模型,分析植被恢复力和抵抗力的变化趋势,通过地理探测器和多项逻辑回归模型从多尺度分析不同尺度下气候、地形和道路因素对植被恢复力的影响机制。结果表明:植被恢复力的变化趋势具有明显的空间异质性,增强趋势主要出现在北部地区,植被对降水量的抵抗力整体呈现减弱趋势,对潜在蒸散的抵抗力除北部呈减弱趋势外,其他各区域呈现增强趋势。地理探测器因子探测结果显示在多个尺度上植被恢复力与降水量、气温、地形(海拔和坡度)、不同等级道路核密度、人类活动等因素相关。多项逻辑回归结果表明20 a间气温、降水和坡度对植被恢复的正向影响加强,海拔、人口和国内生产总值对植被退化的正向影响逐渐减弱。2010—2020年,铁路核密度较高的区域对植被恢复的促进作用更弱,国省级道路核密度较高的区域对植被恢复的抑制作用更强。福建省植被整体呈现正向演替,植被对人类活动和地形因素的响应逐渐减弱,气象因素和道路因素对植被的影响更为明显。

针对伐区木材生产作业受高难度、高危险、高成本、不可逆和生态破坏等诸多因素的制约,整合WebGL技术、网络技术和3D仿真技术,开发了森林作业技术与装备虚拟仿真实验系统。设计了伐区创建与主伐分析、采伐作业技术与装备、集材作业技术与装备虚拟仿真实验内容。学生通过参数变量控制、作业过程观察和关键技术实操,按操作步骤开展技能实训。开发的虚拟仿真实验系统具有实践性和交互性,教学效果好,有助于提升学生的实践能力和创新思维能力,可为森林工程及相关专业的实验教学提供参考。
