The drivers of forest carbon sink density changes in China under forest area heterogeneity: A production-theoretical decomposition analysis SCIE SSCI

Abstract :

Global temperatures continue to rise, and mitigating climate change has become a common global challenge. As a nature-based solution, forest carbon sink has received high recognition from the international community for its role in mitigating climate change. However, traditional production theory decomposition analysis (PDA) fails to consider regional heterogeneity when exploring the drivers of forest carbon sink. To better formulate strategies for enhancing forest carbon sink based on the specific conditions of each region, this study proposes a PDA method integrated with the meta-frontier model. The new model applied to the forest carbon sink density (FCSD) of 30 provinces in China in 2018. It analyses the driving mechanisms of forest land area inputs, forest pests and diseases infestations, and heterogeneity on the FCSD in state-owned forest areas, southern collective forest areas, and mixed forest areas. The model decomposes them into three primary factors and three substitute factors. The study results indicate the following: (1) After considering heterogeneity, the FCSD shifted from state-owned forest areas toward southern collective forest areas, further indicating that state-owned forest areas still have significant potential for improving forest carbon sink; (2) Further analysis of the two-stage factor substitution effects unrelated to heterogeneity reveals that the varying degrees of substitution among forest land, labor, and capital have different impacts on FCSD; (3) The primary driving factors differ among different forest areas. Results from multiple factors indicate that mixed forest areas perform poorly, further widening forest carbon sink distribution gaps nationwide.

“森林-经营主体-村级组织”多维耦合视角下乡村林业协调发展研究

Abstract :

基于福建省深化集体林权制度改革项目的监测数据,采用熵权TOPSIS法、莫兰指数和耦合协调度模型,实证分析福建省乡村林业发展的空间特征及耦合协调特征。结果表明:福建省乡村林业发展存在地区发展不均衡的现象。在空间特征方面,乡村林业发展呈现显著的空间集聚效应,63.3%的地区表现为较为集聚的发展状态,整体形成西北高、东南低的阶梯式分布格局;在耦合协调特征方面,森林、经营主体和村级组织三个维度的耦合协调度存在明显地区差异,仅15.8%的改革重点县为高度协调,42.1%的改革重点县处于失调状态。据此,建议加强乡村林业在森林、经营主体和政府之间的协调发展,创新乡村林业的区域化协同发展模式,充分发挥自身禀赋优势,促进乡村林业协调发展。

Abstract :

数字时代背景下,推动数字技术赋能国有林场经营绩效提升已成为助推生态文明建设和林区振兴的关键任务。基于TOE框架,结合模糊集定性比较分析(fsQCA)与必要条件分析(NCA)方法,从组态视角探讨数字技术赋能福建省国有林场经营绩效的关键影响因素及其相互关系。研究发现:(1)单一因素并非实现国有林场高经营收入提升的必要条件,但科研创新潜力、数字技术采纳和自然资源条件在推动经营绩效提升中发挥普遍作用,优化三者将有助于提升国有林场整体经营效能;(2)国有林场在政府支持不稳定的情况下,可通过数字技术和自然资源融合发展,实现经营绩效的突破;(3)国有林场经营绩效提升路径可分为3类:科研创新引领突破型、政府引导数字协同型、数字技术生态融合型,反映了多元化的经营机制和复杂的管理模式。国有林场应综合考虑多种条件的联动作用,增强技术、组织和环境的基础建设,以促进国有林场经营绩效提升,从而实现可持续发展目标。

Forest carbon sinks play a crucial role in mitigating global climate change and enhancing ecological sustainability. This study utilizes the production theoretical decomposition analysis (PDA) model to develop a decomposition framework for analyzing the drivers of input-output dynamics within the forest carbon sink system. The study specifically focuses on plant diseases and insect pests as undesirable output indicators. We thoroughly analyzed the development and increment in forest carbon sinks across Chinese provinces and regions from 2010 to 2021, along with the key drivers influencing these changes. Policy recommendations are provided to enhance the scientific management of forest carbon sinks and promote sustainable development. The study results indicate the following: (1) Forest carbon sinks in China and its three major regions have increased annually, with dynamic fluctuations in the carbon sink increments. The overall center of gravity has shifted from southwest to northeast. (2) The rate of change in forest carbon sinks varies across provinces and regions, with 93.548% of provinces and all three major regions showing positive growth. The rate of change in forest carbon sinks in the eastern region is significantly higher than in the western and central regions; (3) Technological changes in carbon sinks positively impacted forest carbon sink enhancement across all provinces and regions of China. However, changes in the technical efficiency of carbon sinks had a significant negative effect, and the intensity of plant diseases and insect pests may become a key driver inhibiting future forest carbon sink enhancement.

Ranking L-R fuzzy numbers based on hybrid two-dimensional deviation degree SCIE

Abstract :

The deviation degree of the fuzzy number is an essential factor in portraying fuzzy characteristics. Two different fuzzy ranking methods that take deviations into account have been proposed by Wang et al. and Asady, which have received a lot of attention, but have since been shown to have various counterexamples. To solve this problem, this study first introduces these two ranking methods systematically and outlines their shortcomings. Secondly, we propose a novel hybrid two-dimensional deviation degree to rank L-R fuzzy numbers based on the two-dimensional centroid. In addition, three comparison examples demonstrate that the hybrid two-dimensional deviation degree-based ranking method can effectively overcome the shortcomings of the existing methods in comparing L-R fuzzy numbers, such as logic errors, the violation of intuition, poor discrimination, etc. Finally, the transferability and rationality required for the hybrid two-dimensional deviation degree ranking method are discussed.

造纸上市公司低碳竞争力指数构建及实证研究

Abstract :

构建科学的造纸上市公司低碳竞争力指数是准确评估低碳竞争力的基础,可为制定提升策略提供决策参考。本文考虑低碳作为双碳背景下企业发展的制约要素,构建了造纸上市公司低碳竞争力指数,并采用“纵横向”拉开档次法对其测度。结果表明:2018—2022年造纸上市公司低碳竞争力指数整体水平较低,呈波动上升趋势。一级指标中,低碳管理水平较高,企业绩效增长明显,其余指标处于中间水平。相比传统竞争力指数,低碳竞争力指数能更准确、全面地反映双碳背景下造纸上市公司的竞争力状况。本文提出了优化环保意识形态、倡导绿色产品消费、加快原料结构调整、科学推进清洁生产、加强科技研发投入、提升节能减排支持等政策启示,以期提升造纸上市公司低碳竞争力。

Cooperative afforestation, reforestation, and forest management initiatives between state-owned forest farms and village collectives serve as pivotal strategies for restoring degraded ecosystems, establishing new forested areas, and revitalizing collective forestland resources. These collaborations offer a practical pathway to enhance forest resource utilization while contributing to rural revitalization in forest-dominated regions. Despite their significance, achieving the sustainability of Forest-Village Cooperation through efficient resource allocation remains a critical challenge. This study investigates Forest-Village Cooperation cases in Fujian Province, employing resource orchestration theory to develop an analytical framework for sustainable resource allocation in these partnerships. By integrating Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA), and Fuzzy-Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA), the research examines how policy resources, human resources, natural resources, economic resources, grassroots connectivity capability, and technological innovation capability collectively influence sustainability. The findings reveal that no single resource factor is necessary for Forest-Village Cooperation Sustainability (FVCS). However, economic resources, human resources, and technological innovation capability emerge as key drivers of high sustainability. State-owned forest farms with weaker grassroots connectivity capability can offset this limitation through natural resource advantages, while those with stronger connectivity achieve cooperation upgrades via efficient economic resource allocation. Furthermore, this study identifies three pathways for FVCS: "Resource Integration-Driven", "Technology Innovation-Enabled", and "Capability-Resource Synergy", each tailored to specific resource endowment contexts. This research not only extends the application of resource orchestration theory in the forestry cooperation domain but also provides actionable policy recommendations for optimizing collaborations between state-owned forest farms and village collectives.

Efficiency Evaluation and Resource Optimization of Forestry Carbon Sequestration Projects: A Case Study of State-Owned Forest Farms in Fujian Province SCIE SSCI

Abstract :

Forestry carbon sink projects are an important pathway for achieving China's carbon neutrality goal, with state-owned forest farms playing a leading role in the development of projects. This study collected data from 14 forestry carbon sink projects in Fujian Province, which are primarily led by state-owned forest farms. Using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), the operational efficiency of each forestry carbon sink project was evaluated and calculated, followed by a study on resource optimization allocation based on the efficiency evaluation results. The conclusions are as follows: management capability and climate conditions are key factors affecting the efficiency of state-owned forest farms. The investment required for developing forestry carbon sink projects hinders small-scale forest farms from engaging in such projects.

Spatial Divergence of Forestry Green Total Factor Productivity in China Under the Constraint of Carbon Emissions SCIE

In the dual-carbon context, forestry green total factor productivity (FGTFP) serves as a key indicator of the quality and efficiency of forestry development. Based on New Economic Geography Theory, this study explores FGTFP and its spatial divergence under the constraint of carbon emissions. We analyzed panel data from 30 Chinese provinces between 2004 and 2022. The Directional Distance Function (DDF) model was applied to measure FGTFP, and the Global Malmquist-Luenberger (GML) model was applied to measure FGTFP's decomposition index. The Dagum Gini coefficient was employed to analyze the degree of spatial divergence of FGTFP and identify its sources. Using Porter's model and Sustainable Development Theory, the geo-detector was applied to examine the driving factors of FGTFP and its decomposition index. The study's findings indicate that (1) FGTFP in China generally trended upward from 2004 to 2022, with significant heterogeneity observed at both interprovincial and regional levels; (2) Technological Improvement (TI) was the primary driver of FGTFP growth in the eastern, northeastern and central regions, while Efficiency Change (EC) was the key driver in the western region; (3) FGTFP exhibited distinct spatial divergence patterns in China, with hypervariable density as the primary source, followed by interregional differentiation, and regional differentiation contributing the least; and (4) green energy transition factors consistently showed a significant "two-factor enhancement effect" and a "non-linear enhancement trend", while external environmental factors exhibited strong interaction effects but demonstrated a "non-linear weakening trend". Therefore, it is essential to promote the green transformation of production modes, facilitate structural adjustments and upgrades in the forestry industry, enhance regional collaboration, and advance the "dual enhancement" of technological progress and efficiency. Additionally, leveraging regional comparative advantages will promote coordinated development.
