Sprawling roads enhanced tropical forest loss during the period 2001-2020 SCIE

Abstract :

Sprawling road networks cutting through forested areas continue to be a potent catalyst of deforestation in tropical regions. Yet, pantropical assessments limited by the lack of high-resolution global maps of tropical forest loss induced by road networks. Here, we harnessed the road dataset from the Global Roads Inventory Project and the forest loss dataset from Global Forest Change, to produce global tropical high-resolution maps of road impact index spanning 2001 to 2020. We find that the forest area within a 1-km distance from roads accounts for about one-sixth, but its proportion of forest loss is nearly one-third, the road impact index is 2.45 times higher than those beyond the zone. The road impact index of all countries shows a decreasing trend with the distance from roads and increasing from 2001 to 2020. Our findings emphasize the urgent need for globalized efforts to protect the intact forests and rehabilitate degraded forests along roadside.

经济高质量发展背景下中国省域物流业碳排放时空分异

Abstract :

中国经济自2010年起由高速增长模式转变为高质量发展模式.经济高质量发展期间物流业蓬勃发展,同时产生大量的碳排放,对生态环境造成严重危害.为探明中国物流业碳排放的时空分异特征,基于Moran's I指数和双变量空间自相关模型对2010~2021年的物流业碳排放进行相关性分析;同时,基于时空地理加权回归模型(GTWR)探明中国省域物流业碳排放影响因素的时空异质性.结果表明,统计期内中国省域物流碳排放的空间相关性逐渐从不显著的空间关系转变为显著的空间正相关性,且表现出不同程度的空间集聚性;其次,影响因素的异质性结果显示货物周转量、物流业人均生产总值和基础设施水平与物流业碳排放呈现空间正相关性,而能源强度与物流业碳排放呈现空间负相关性.对比地理加权回归模型(GWR)和最小二乘回归模型(OLS)结果可知,OLS模型、 GWR模型和GTWR模型调整后的R2分别为0.541、 0.567和0.838,表明所采用的GTWR模型的拟合效果最佳,能够更好地解释不同影响因素与物流业碳排放之间的时空异质性.研究结果可为经济高质量发展下的中国制定不同省域差异化的碳减排策略提供参考.

基于MSPA分析的福建省生态网络构建

快速城镇化进程导致森林景观破碎化、连通性下降,严重威胁区域可持续发展、生物多样性保护和生态服务能力的维持。生态网络构建是提高景观连接度,维持物种扩散过程,保护生物多样性的有效手段。以福建省为例,借助形态学空间格局分析(MSPA)探讨2000、2010和2020年的森林景观结构动态变化,并在利用组分数(NC)与整体连通性指数(IIC)确定适宜距离阈值的基础上,根据可能连通性指数(PC)筛选生态源地;从人-地关系角度选择路网分布、建设用地分布、土地覆盖类型、坡度四种评价因子构建阻力面,采用最小阻力模型(MCR)提取生态廊道形成初步生态网络,进一步计算PC指数对生态廊道进行重要性分级;最后基于图论法,利用闭合度α、线点率β、网络连接度γ对所构建的生态网络进行定量评价。结果表明:(1)近20年来福建省森林景观结构较为稳定,其中核心区占比高达76.27%,但仍存在一定程度的破碎化趋势;(2)根据NC与IIC的计算结果,以500m为合适的距离阈值计算了PC,据此识别出15处生态源地,多位于闽西及闽北地区;(3)采用MCR模型提取了105条生态廊道,其中重要生态廊道27条,分布均匀且连通四方;(4)生态廊道穿过的土地利用类型中受人类干扰小的林草地占比超过85%,耕地占比12.33%,受人类干扰强烈的建设用地及未利用土地占比不足1%;(5)识别出生态节点62个,生态网络结构指数α=0.37,β=1.69,γ=0.58,表明网络结构较为合理,连通性较好。研究结果可从整体角度出发指导福建省生态安全格局构建,以期为土地资源有限背景下,省域尺度复合种群保护工作提供科学依据。

基于系统动力学的城市客运交通减碳情景模拟研究

随着我国城市化和机动化的快速发展,城市客运交通已成为城市二氧化碳排放的重要来源。在“双碳”目标的大背景下,如何实现城市客运交通的减排成为人们关注的重点问题。利用北京市数据,综合考虑道路绿地和新能源汽车占比对城市客运交通碳排放的影响,建立了北京市客运交通碳排放的系统动力学模型,测算出北京市2011—2020年城市客运交通碳排放总量;根据碳达峰愿景设定了5种减排情景,并评估了不同情景在2021—2025年的减排效果。结果表明:私家车是城市客运交通碳排放的最主要贡献者;2019年城市道路绿地的年固碳量为同一时期公交车年碳排放量的28%;单情景下,北京市客运交通碳排放未能在2021—2025年间达到峰值,减排效果最佳的情景为“控制私人交通出行需求”;而北京市客运交通至少需要在两种减排情景的作用下才能在2030年前实现碳达峰。

Vegetation is an indispensable component of terrestrial ecosystems and plays an irreplaceable role in mitigation of climate change. Global vegetation changes (i.e., greening and browning) still occur frequently, however, little is known about the spatial relationships between these two processes. Based on the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) dataset from 1998 to 2018 in Fujian Province, China. The Theil-Sen and Mann-Kendall tests were used to explore temporal changes in vegetation growing, then the spatial relationships of greening and browning was distinguished with bivariate spatial autocorrelation analysis, and the spatial variation in the relationship between vegetation changes and driving factors was explored by the geographical detector. The results showed that from 1998 to 2018, the average NDVI value increased from 0.75 to 0.83; 89.61% of the study area experienced vegetation greening, while 5.7% experienced significant browning, with active vegetation changes occurred along roads and nearby cities. The spatial autocorrelation results showed that the spatial relationships between vegetation greening and browning were dominated by spatial heterogeneity (i.e., high greening and low browning, H-L clusters accounting for 60% and low greening and high browning, L-H clusters accounting for 14%), but we also revealed that there were still quite a few places (4%) with spatial dependence (i.e., high greening and browning, H-H clusters), occurring around urban areas and along roads. The factor detector indicated that the nighttime light intensity was among the most dominant factor of vegetation changes, followed by elevation and slope. Although the individual effect of the distance to roads was relatively weak on the vegetation changes, its indirect effect was found to be the strongest by the interaction detector, which was obtained from the interactions much larger than its independent impact. Simultaneously, the risk detector revealed that the greening preferred occurring in places with lower nighttime light intensity (<1.1 nW cm(-2)sr(-1)), higher elevation (>43.4 m) and slope (>6.3 degrees). Moreover, we found that the vegetation changes primarily occurred within a distance of 1685.4 m from roads. Our findings could deepen the understanding of vegetation change patterns and provide advice for mitigating the impact on the vegetation changes.

Although many prior efforts found that road networks significantly affect landscape fragmentation, the spatially heterogeneous effects of road networks on urban ecoenvironments remain poorly understood. A new remote-sensing-based ecological index (RSEI) is proposed to calculate the ecoenvironmental quality, and a local model (geographically weighted regression, GWR) was applied to explore the spatial variations in the relationship between kernel density of roads (KDR) and ecoenvironmental quality and understand the coupling mechanism of road networks and ecoenvironments. The average effect of KDR on the variables of normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), land surface moisture (LSM), and RSEI was negative, while it was positively associated with the soil index (SI), normalized differential build-up and bare soil index (NDBSI), index-based built-up index (IBI), and land surface temperature (LST). This study shows that rivers and the landscape pattern along rivers exacerbate the impact of road networks on urban ecoenvironments. Moreover, spatial variation in the relationship between road network and ecoenvironment is mainly controlled by the relationship of the road network with vegetation and bare soil. This research can help in better understanding the diversified relationships between road networks and ecoenvironments and offers guidance for urban planners to avoid or mitigate the negative impacts of roads on urban ecoenvironments.

A Synthetic Landscape Metric to Evaluate Urban Vegetation Quality: A Case of Fuzhou City in China SCIE

Urban vegetation plays a very important role in regulating urban climate and improving the urban environment. There is an urgent need to construct an effective index to quickly detect urban vegetation quality changes. In this study, a synthetic vegetation quality index (VQI) was proposed using a holistic approach based on the quality of vegetation itself and the spatial relationship with its surroundings, composed of four selected variables: normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), patch aggregation index (AI), patch density (PD), and percentage of landscape (PLAND). Principal component analysis (PCA) was employed to calculate weights for each variable due to its objectivity. Then, taking Fuzhou City, southeast China as the case study, the scale effects of the VQI under different moving window sizes (500 m, 1 km, 2 km, horizontal ellipsis , 5 km) and the spatiotemporal changes were explored. The results showed that a VQI with a window size of 3 km had the highest correlations with all the selected indicators. Meanwhile, the representativeness and the effectiveness of the VQI were validated by the percentage eigenvalues of PC1, as well as Pearson correlation analysis and bivariate spatial autocorrelation analysis. We also revealed that the proposed VQI had the greatest explanatory power for land surface temperature (LST) among all the factors in both studied years (2000 and 2016), with the VQI's interpretation of LST being 0-44% better than any individual indicator except for AI in 2000. Additionally, our work revealed that the location of vegetation has a great impact on the urban thermal environment. The VQI can assess urban vegetation quality effectively and quickly.

基于主体功能区划和FLUS-Markov模型的区域国土空间格局模拟——以福州都市圈为例

[目的]模拟2030年福州都市圈不同主体功能区各土地利用/覆盖类型空间分布,预测研究区国土空间格局未来发展趋势。[方法]基于2010和2020年土地利用/覆盖现状遥感监测,OpenStreetMap(OSM),digit elevation model(DEM),夜间灯光及气象等多源数据,利用FLUS-Markov模型基于分区模拟和整体模拟方式分别预测研究区2030年的土地利用/覆盖空间结构并进行对比,探讨各主体功能区土地利用/覆盖时空变化强度差异特征。[结果](1)2020年福州都市圈各主体功能区模拟精度kappa系数均在0.85以上,说明该模型关键参数的组合设置可以有效地模拟不同功能区的土地利用/覆盖空间分布格局;(2)与整体模拟相比,分区模拟结果的单一土地利用动态度、综合土地利用动态度和土地利用程度等指标相对较优,故分区模拟更适用于区域未来土地利用/覆盖规划。[结论]基于分区模拟方式的福州都市圈2030年模拟结果与主体功能区划的发展目标更加吻合,因此,可以结合各功能区发展特点提出各区域经济发展和生态保护的重点方向。
